Finding a good go-to, yet filling breakfast can be a bit of a challenge. These blueberry oats are quick, tasty, and keep you full for hours. They're the perfect breakfast (which might be why I eat these at least 4 times a week!). Not only do these oats nourish your body, but they help reduce the impact of climate change on the Earth. By eating plant-based foods, you are getting a more efficient source of protein. What does this mean? When animals are fed, they are given food that is full of protein. The animals are killed, and the meat will supposedly have the same amount of protein, but that isn't the case. The highest amount of protein that is converted into animal product (meat) is 25%. The lowest is 3.8%. That means only 3.8-25% of the plant-protein that animals eat is absorbed by humans when eating meat. Plant-based protein sources are more efficient sources of protein, and require less land, money, and care.

RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

- 1/2 cup oats

- a dash of cinnamon

- 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

- 1 cup water

- 2 tsp nut butter

- 1 handful of nuts/granola

METHOD Microwave:

In a bowl, add the oats and the cinnamon and mix. Next, add the blueberries and water. Add to the microwave and either microwave under the oatmeal setting, or for 3-4 minutes on high. Carefully take the bowl out, and top with nut butter and nuts/granola (for crunch!). Enjoy!

Stovetop:

In a small pot, add the oats, water, blueberries, and cinnamon. Turn the stove to medium, and cook until oats are creamy, and at desired texture. Pour into a bowl and top with nut butter and nuts/granola (for crunch!). Enjoy!
